EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES YEAR 2010 – 11

PARTICIPATION IN INTERCOLLEGIAGE FESTIVALS

19, 20 & 21 August, 2010 – Students participated in "Umang”, an intercollegiate festival. It gave students an exposure to intercollegiate competitions and helped to foster a competitive spirit in them, besides serving as a forum to showcase their talents.

14 August 2010 – Students participated in "Raw Marketeers”. This was an innovative product designing and marketing event organised by the Marketing Club of ASMSOC.

Students participated in "Mood Indigo”, the intercollegiate festival of IIT Mumbai, on 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th December 2010.

Students participated in "Mayhem”, the intercollegiate festival of ASMSOC, on 11th and 12th February.

Ka-Ching 2011

The annual fest of SAMSOE was held for the first time on February 21st and 22nd 2011.The Fest started with an inaugural function on 21st February, 2011 in Santokba Hall. The chief guest was Mr. Anil Jaggia, CIO HDFC Bank. The Vice Chancellor, Dr. Rajan Saxena and the Chairman-Local Managing Committee, Mr. Shalin Divatia along with the Chief Guest, Student Representative and members of the faculty lit the lamp and inaugurated the function.

The Fest consisted of several Economics-based as well as informal events such as:

  • Plijjh Le Lo
  • Aao Gao Jao
  • ize Monopoly
  • Flipside
  • Hodge Podge
  • Mad Ads
  • You Go
  • Rock n Moolah
  • The chief draw of the Fest was the first event "Economic Parley” consisting of a talk by Dr. Abhay Pethe, focusing on the economic issues facing India.
  • Several reputed colleges from Mumbai participated in the Fest including St. Xavier’s, L.S.  Raheja, ASMSOC, SNDT, Mithibai, SM Shetty’s, Sophia & D.J. Sanghvi.
  • The winner of the best college trophy was awarded to Mithibai College.

Other Activities

Students of SOE coordinated with the Lions Club to do a beach-cleaning exercise after Ganpati Visarjan on September 23rd 2010. This was part of the activities of the Social Service Club with an objective to create an awareness of social and civic responsibility and dignity of labour among students.

The Social Welfare Club conducted classes for underprivileged children in conjunction with the NGO, Sneha Sadan. They also conducted computer training classes for some of the older children from October 2010 onwards.

Trek to Lohagad- On September 21, 2010 students of SOE accompanied by faculty and members of ‘Break Free Journey’ (professional trekkers) went to Lohagad for a trek as an extension of outdoor classroom activity.
