  • A practical session on ‘R’ for ‘Regression diagnostics’ for the course Applied Econometrics was conducted by Prof. Shreya Biswas.
  • A practical session on excel for Derivation of the direct and indirect demand curves, and the kinked-demand curve for the course Intermediate Microeconomics was conducted by Prof. Sneha Thayyil.
  • Practical Sessions on SPSS and Excel for the course Operations Research was conducted for the T.Y. B.Sc. Economics by Prof. Sneha Kotian.
  • Hands on practical sessions on ‘R’ software was conducted for the course Advanced Econometrics for the S.Y. B.Sc. Economics by Prof. Rohit Muraleedharan
  • Hands on practical session on ‘R’ software for detecting influential observations in data conducted for Applied Econometrics to the T.Y. students by Prof. Shreya Biswas.
  • SPSS sessions were conducted for S.Y. B.Sc. Economics to explain various statistics used for hypothesis testing and checking normality assumption using UK Earnings dataset as part of their Introduction to Econometric course by Prof. Shreya Biswas.
  • Hands on experience on statistical package SPSS was given to S.Y. B.Sc. Economics students on Aug 18, 20 & 31 2015 for the course ‘Introduction to Econometrics’.
  • Hands on experience on statistical package "R- Software” was given to T.Y. B.Sc. Economics students on August 13, 16 & 28, 2015 for the course ‘Time Series Econometrics’.
  • Following Practical Sessions were conducted for the T.Y. B.Sc. Economics students for the course Time series Econometrics 
    Time Series Analysis – Empirical example for explaining the application of cointegration – Testing US purchasing power parity using cointegration in pre and post Bretton Woods (Enders, 1988) 
    Time Series Analysis – R sessions: (a) Simulation of trend stationary and random walk models in R (b) Modelling non-stationary time series in R using Air passengers dataset (c) An application of cointegration and error correction models in R using US interest rates

  • A practical session on excel for ‘solving optimal portfolio using data’ for the course Financial Economics was conducted by Prof. Shreya Biswas.
  • Prof. Sneha Thayyil along with 8 students of T.Y. B.Sc. Economics attended the lecture on Capitalism and Democracy – a discussion by Thomas Piketty and Michael Sandel, moderated by Patrick French.
  • A class debate on ‘Should Income Tax be abolished in India’ was conducted for the T.Y. students for the course Indian Economy – II by Prof. Amita Vaidya.
  • A discussion on fifth bi-monthly monetary policy was conducted for the course Intermediate Macroeconomics for the F.Y. B.Sc. Economics by Prof. Rohit Muraleedharan

Field Visit

  • Prof. Amita Vaidya, Prof. Sneha Thayyil along with the T.Y. students attended the interactive session on the ‘Economic Survey’ at Mumbai University on 8th March, 2016 the chief guest was Dr. Arvind Subramanian, Chief Economic Advisor, Government of India.
  • Prof. Kiran Limaye and Prof. Sneha Thayyil attended the seminar at Mumbai University on the topic ‘Issues Related to Budget 2016-17’ on March 18, 2016.
  • As part of the course Agricultural Economics, the S.Y. B. Sc. Economics students visited to an Organic Farm and Horticultural Department of School of Agricultural Sciences Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) Nashik on October 28, 2015. This was followed by the session on ‘Economics of Organic Farming and its Sustainability’ by Mr. Surya Gunjal, Director, YCMOU
  • Field Visit to RBI Monetary Museum on October 30, 2015 for the Course Money Banking and Financial Institution.

Convocation 2015

The Convocation ceremony for Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics, Sunandan Divatia School of Science and Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce was held at Bhaidas Hall on 4th August 2015 at 3.30 pm. The Chief Guest for the Convocation was Mr. Vijay Chandok, President, ICICI Bank.
