The 15th edition of Shastrarth, the flagship annual debate festival of SVKM’s NMIMS Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics (SAMSOE), was held on 27th September 2025. Organised by the undergraduate division, the intercollegiate event drew participants from across India for a day of rigorous exchange and spirited debates. The competition featured three rounds—Preliminaries, Semi-finals, and Finals—adopting the Modified Oxford and Lincoln-Douglas formats. A distinguished panel of judges representing diverse fields such as media, finance, education, sustainability, and entrepreneurship ensured engaging and fair discussions throughout. Motions ranged across economics, politics, philosophy, and contemporary affairs, inspiring participants to think critically and articulate nuanced perspectives.
Following a challenging series of debates, Aadi Sardesai and Tuvya Koyande from FLAME University, Pune were declared the winners, while Joshua Furtado and Niyati Rani from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai secured the position of runners-up. The finals, centred on the motion "This House Believes that ‘that’ which outlives its intention loses its value,” demonstrated remarkable clarity and depth in argumentation. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and closing remarks from the judges, and faculty in charge Dr. Esha Khanna and Dr. Niladri Bagchi, and our Director Prof. Amita Vaidya, who praised the students’ commitment and professionalism. Carefully planned and executed, Shastrarth 2025 served as a testament to SAMSOE’s dedication to promoting critical thinking, eloquence, and academic excellence.

Ka-Ching X EJCon’26 presented a diverse lineup of ten flagship events spanning Economics, Finance, Politics, Crisis Management, Strategy, and Quizzing, each designed to challenge analytical thinking, creativity, and decision-making under pressure. Across two days, over 1000+ participants from colleges across India competed, collaborated and learned through this multifaceted academic and managerial experience.
The theme for this edition was ‘The Tipping Point’, representing the moments when change is no longer optional, but unavoidable. At Ka-Ching x EJCon 2026, The Tipping Point challenged participants to recognise these moments of inflection and critically engage with how institutions and individuals must respond before inaction becomes irreversible. A Social Initiative, ‘Run for a Cause’, was hosted on the coastal road in Mumbai as a sunset sprint and saw a participation of over 150+ participants.
The Policy Challenge at Ka-Ching x EJCon 2026, in collaboration with Tata Pension Fund, analysed India’s National Pension System (NPS), focusing on recent reforms such as NPS Vatsalya and NPS 2.0. The final round was evaluated by an expert panel comprising Kurian Jose (CEO, Tata Pension Fund Management), Rashim Bagga (CEO, Association of Portfolio Managers in India), Joydeep Sen (Author and Columnist) , and Savio Crasto (Marketing Head, Tata Pension Fund Management), whose feedback emphasised analytical depth and practical relevance
View GalleryThe football tournament was an intra-college event organized to promote active student participation and an inclusive sports culture within the Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics, NMIMS Mumbai on 11th October, 2025. The event aimed to provide a beginner-friendly platform where students from all batches could come together to engage in a spirit of teamwork, learning, and healthy competition.
Furthermore, female participation was encouraged by mandating the inclusion of female players in every team, thereby ensuring equal representation on the field. Additionally, the event sought to strengthen bonds among students across different academic years, enhance physical well-being, and create an environment that values collaboration, respect, and sportsmanship.

On 30th August, 2025 students of Samvedna celebrated the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi with underprivileged children and cultivating cultural awareness through the art of sculpting. They contacted Salaam Balak Trust, located in Andheri East, who helped us gather a large group of children to whom we could teach how to sculpt an idol of Lord Ganesha. Our team provided the children with everything needed to sculpt the idol, from the clay that would take the form of Lord Ganesha, to the cardboard that would serve as the base of the idol. We showered them with kindness and guidance while they welcomed us wholeheartedly. All children actively participated in the sculpting, resulting in the creation of beautiful idols of Lord Ganesha. The program was 1.5 hours long and the children were overjoyed to either learn how to sculpt or show their existing skills off. They were also thrilled to receive chocolate at the end of the program
The Blood Donation Drive was organized by Samvedana, the Social Service Club of Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics, SVKM’s NMIMS University, in collaboration with Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, on 6th November at the 8th Floor Refuge Area of the NMIMS Main Building. The event was conducted from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff members across various schools of NMIMS.
The drive commenced with a brief orientation by the representatives from Nanavati Hospital, who highlighted the significance of voluntary blood donation and its role in saving lives. A team of certified doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff from the hospital carried out the process with utmost care and professionalism. Each donor underwent a preliminary health check-up, including blood pressure, and general fitness assessment, to ensure they met the eligibility criteria for donation.
View GallerySamvedana organized a volunteering event in collaboration with Vachlabai Apang Seva Sanstha on 18 January 2026. The event was communicated to students through official channels, inviting them to participate in a structured volunteering activity with specially abled individuals.
As part of the initiative, students also distributed ration kits. Under this program, food kits were provided to 38 specially abled beneficiaries for household use, and hearing aids were distributed to 10 hearing-impaired individuals, directly supporting their daily needs and wellbeing.
The volunteering session was conducted from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the NGO premises.
View GalleryOn Saturday, 4th October 2025, members of Samvedana visited the Kibo Project, an animal shelter located on the Ground Floor, JK Industrial Estate, Plot No. 17, Linking Road, Shastri Nagar, Santacruz (West), Mumbai. The initiative aimed to combine compassion, learning, and volunteer work in a meaningful and memorable experience.
Upon arrival, the volunteers were greeted by the shelter staff and briefed about the shelter’s operations, which include rescuing, rehabilitating, and caring for abandoned and injured animals. The team was introduced to various furry residents- dogs and puppies who had found safety and care within the shelter’s walls.
View GalleryThe Carter Road Beach Cleanup was officially announced through an email on behalf of Samvedana. The announcement invited students to participate in a cleanliness drive aimed at reducing marine pollution and preserving the coastal environment.
The cleanup was conducted on 17 January 2026, during which students actively took part in collecting plastic waste and other debris from the shoreline, in collaboration with the Eknath Foundation.
After the cleanup concluded, the collected waste was segregated and responsibly disposed of by the Eknath Foundation. The initiative highlighted the importance of environmental responsibility and collective action in maintaining clean and sustainable public spaces.
View GalleryDance Workshop - The objective of the workshop was to introduce FYs to 8 counts, the dance club of Junoon. We prepared a simple choreography for them to learn and enjoy. We were looking to convey the fun aspect of the club basically trying to incorporate how 8 counts bring together dances for various events.
Intro Jam session - The objective of the event was to introduce the Junoon’s Bass-a-Nova music Jam along with the other clubs as well to the FYs. Also it was the first event for the new Core of Junoon, so the objective was also that the new core start well and good.
The primary aim of the "Ethnic Day" event, organized by the Junoonclub on 16th October 2025, was to formally celebrate the joyous and auspicious season of Diwali within the college campus. The event sought to keep the festive spirit alive by encouraging all students to participate actively by dressing up in traditional Indian clothes. Ultimately, the goal was to foster a sense of community, ensuring the day was filled with "colours, smiles, and good vibes. To mark the auspicious season of Diwali in college, the Junoon committee decorated the hallways and admin office with flower garlands and mini lanterns. They also set up diyas and a flower rangoli outside the admin office.
View GalleryTo celebrate the festive season by singing carols and distributing candies among students.To spread Christmas spirit and cheer across the college, the Junoon Committee transformed the campus with festive decorations. The hallways and administrative office were adorned with Christmas-themed décor, including a beautifully decorated Christmas tree placed near the lifts, mistletoe hung on doors, and red-and-green streamers lining the walls. Bass–A–Nova performed Christmas carols and popular festive songs in the corridors during the lunch break. A student also dressed as Santa Claus and visited classrooms, distributing candies to both students and professors. A festive and joyful atmosphere spread through college as students enjoyed the music and Christmas decorations. The surprise visits by Santa Claus and the distribution of candies enhanced student engagement and created memorable moments, contributing to increased enthusiasm and participation.

This initiative involved disseminating information through the display of posters and the use of desktop backgrounds that highlighted the significance of this issue.
The primary objective of the event was to inform all students about the seriousness of ragging, while also promoting core values such as respect, empathy, and responsible conduct among students. Additionally, the event provided an opportunity for freshmen and seniors to interact in a safe and supportive environment, thereby fostering a sense of community and well-being on campus.
On 24th August, 2025 students of ELCITY Clubat Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics, NMIMS celebrated festival of Ganesh Chaturthi with underprivileged children by fostering cultural awareness and joy through origami idol-making. They reached out to an NGO – Fulora Foundation with the help of which we gathered a big group of children at one place and taught them how to make Lord Ganesha’s face through origami.
Our team provided these children with colorful papers and sketch pens and engaged with them with enthusiasm and compassion – making their Sunday different and a joyful one. The children participated actively and all of them made really beautiful origami.
It was a 2-hour long program. The children were thrilled to get chocolates and ladoos and enjoyed playing games with us.
On Friday, 18th July 2025, Elcity organized a creative and sentimental event titled "Elcity’s Time Capsule.” Students were invited to write letters to their future selves or to a friend, capturing their thoughts, feelings, and hopes from the present moment. A designated drop-off point was set up on the 3rd floor outside the Admin Office.
The aim of Elcity’s Time Capsule was to offer students a unique opportunity to connect with their future selves or friends by writing heartfelt letters. The event aimed to encourage reflection, creativity, and emotional expression, fostering a deeper sense of community and self-awareness among participants.
View GalleryElysium, the annual fest of Elcity, marked a day full of creativity, colours, and camaraderie. The event featured 35 stalls spread across the foyer of Mithibai building, many of which were set up by SAMSOE students themselves. The stalls offered a delightful range of experiences—from food stalls serving chaat, gola, corndogs, ramen, and desserts to activity booths like face painting, thumb painting, poster making, and games, as well as jewellery and sticker stalls and even a photobooth for visitors to capture memories. The fest welcomed students from over ten institutions. The venue buzzed with enthusiasm as attendees explored each stall, participated in games, and indulged in delicious treats. By the end of the day, students walked away with coloured faces, painted arms, full stomachs, lighter wallets, and joyful hearts. For students who managed stalls, Elysium provided a valuable entrepreneurial experience, teaching them skills in management, marketing, and teamwork. The fest was met with cheers and appreciation from both the faculty and the student body.
The students of the Elcity club celebrated Children’s Day in a unique and thoughtful way by connecting with the elderly at an old-age home and helping them relive their childhood through art and conversation. The event aimed to bring joy, nostalgia, and a sense of companionship to the residents of AgeNurture Nest Foundation while fostering empathy and social awareness among student volunteers. For the second Social Sunday initiative, the members of the Social Responsibility Forum visited AgeNurture Nest Foundation in Andheri to celebrate Children’s Day — but with a twist. Instead of the usual celebration with children, the team engaged with the elderly residents of the old-age home.
A total of 10 enthusiastic participants took part, filling the space with laughter, colors, and conversations. The session concluded with a small gesture — distribution of toffees, symbolizing sweet reminders of their childhood. Students also interacted with the residents, discussing their lives in Mumbai, their favorite memories, and what made their childhood special.

Provide students a creative platform to express themselves through costumes and themed photography. Encourage student interaction and engagement by building a lively and collaborative campus culture.To bring the festive spirit of Halloween to campus, Elcity set up a spooky-themed photo corner with fun props. Students were invited to dress up in spooky, creative, funny, or stylish Halloween costumes and visit the booth to get photos clicked. The media team clicked pictures and videos of participants, and students could also take pictures with their own devices. The best photos were shortlisted by the Elcity team and featured on the official Elcity Instagram page. This activity encouraged students to showcase creativity, enjoy thematic photography, and bond with peers in a festive atmosphere.
To honour the academic mentors who guide and support students, Elcity organized a Teachers’ Day gesture by distributing 25 appreciation cards to faculty members. The cards expressed gratitude for the crucial role teachers play in students’ learning journeys and personal growth. The event celebrated respect, gratitude, and the close teacher-student bond at SAMSOE.

Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics, NMIMS Mumbai, organised an engaging alumni speaker session – SAMSOE Connect with Abhijeet Didwania – on Friday, 8th November 2025. The event, hosted by the Alumni Cell of SAMSOE, featured Mr. Abhijeet Didwania, Senior Consultant at Oliver Wyman and alumnus of IIM Bangalore and SAMSOE. The interactive two-hour session offered students valuable insights into academic planning, research, CFA and CAT preparation, MBA readiness, and consulting careers. Mr. Didwania shared his journey from SAMSOE to IIM Bangalore and Oliver Wyman, emphasising the importance of balancing academics with extracurriculars, building practical skills, and approaching interviews with confidence. A highlight of the session was a mock case discussion, where students gained hands-on exposure to problem-solving frameworks used in consulting. The event was coordinated by Rishabh Choudhary and Johann Solanki in their roles as team leaders, with Dr. Esha Khanna as the mentor. It saw enthusiastic involvement from SAMSOE students and emerged as one of the most enlightening alumni interactions of the semester, effectively connecting classroom education with practical application.
