Ka-Ching x EJCon 2024

The 14th edition of Ka-Ching x EJCon was conducted by students of the Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics on the 23rd and 24th of January, 2024. Over 350 participants from universities across India participated in events designed along the principles of economics, management, and policy discussions. The fest, which began in 2012, continued its successful legacy with a range of exhilarating events from a mock-stock exchange, to banter-based trade, entrepreneurship to politics and marketing, along with its flagship events "Bull Run” and "War of Westeros”.

‘EJCon’ or the Economic Justice Conclave, is a student-led conclave aiming to provide the youth with a platform to discuss and address socio-economic issues of our times. In each edition, students have come up with relevant and responsible socio-economic themes such as Climate Change, Freedom, Inequality and the Urban Era. Each of these topics focused a spotlight on some of the major problems faced by developing economies, and delved into policies which could later be presented to policy thank-tanks and public sector authorities.

The theme of the 5th edition of EJCon this year, was ‘Sustainable and Adaptable Governance and Action (The S.A.G.A.)’. The team at the helm of the fest this year has endeavored to implement its ethos by initiatives such as:

  • holding a policy evaluation workshop,
  • beginning a speaker & podcast series on sustainability,
  • organizing a plogging fundraiser ‘EcoStride’ to pick up residential waste,
  • setting up stalls for the sale of recycled merchandise in collaboration with ‘Goonj’, an NGO,
  • by adopting net zero-waste practices and sustainable or recyclable material usage wherever possible throughout the fest.

The fest ended with a closing ceremony held in the Mukesh Patel auditorium on the 24th of January 2024. Mr. Kaustubh Dhavse who is Joint Secretary in the Government of Maharashtra, designated as Officer on Special Duty to the Deputy Chief Minister, Govt. Of Maharashtra, graced the event as the Chief guest. Mr. Dhavse drives Policy, Investments, Technology and Infrastructure in the state via various programs and Special Projects.
