Orientation Programme 2025
The Orientation Programme for the incoming FY B.Sc. (Hons.) Economics Batch of 2025-29 at SVKM's NMIMS Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics (SAMSOE) was held on 10th July 2025 at the Mukesh Patel Auditorium. The event began by the lighting of the lamp, Saraswati Vandana, and the NMIMS anthem.
Prof. Amita Vaidya, Director of the School, delivered the talk welcoming the new batch of students. Her address. highlighted the academic structure and processes, and emphasized on the student-centric learning, academic rigor and industry exposure of the B.Sc. Economics program. The faculty & staff of the school were introduced and students were encouraged to actively engage in the school's vibrant academic and co-curricular environment.
This was followed by remarks from Prof. Nahid Fatema, Program Chairperson of the B.Sc. Economics programme regarding various activities, fests, clubs and student's participation in the same. Senior students then shared their experiences about life at SAMSOE, internships, and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Imran Khan, Program Chairperson of M.Sc. Economics.
The orientation program closed with interaction of students & parents with the faculty members of SAMSOE. The event was compered by Esha Punjabi and Abhinav Agarwal, students of third year B.Sc program.

Convocation Ceremony 2025
The Convocation Ceremony 2025 of the Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics and the Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts was held on August 18, 2025, at the Mukesh R. Patel Auditorium, SVKM’s NMIMS. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Amish Mehta, Managing Director & CEO, CRISIL Ltd., along with Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, Pro Vice Chancellor and Nominee of the Hon’ble Chancellor, and Shri Shalin Divatia, Nominee of the Hon’ble Chancellor and Hon. Joint Secretary, SVKM. Other dignitaries present included Prof. Amita Vaidya, Dean, SAMSOE, Dr. Vijay Negi, Dean, JDSOLA, and Shri Ashish Apte, Controller of Examinations, SVKM’s NMIMS.
The formal proceedings commenced with registration at 9:30 a.m., followed by group photograph sessions with the Dean and Pro Vice Chancellor. The academic procession began at 10:30 a.m., after which the Chief Guest was formally presented with the sash. The ceremonial lamp was lit by the dignitaries on the dais, and Convocation 2025 was declared open by Shri Shalin Divatia. The Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Meena Chintamaneni delivered the welcome address, followed by the presentation of school reports by Prof. Amita Vaidya and Dr. Vijay Negi.
The conferment of degrees was carried out by Shri Shalin Divatia and Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, accompanied by the respective Deans. The oath was administered by Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, and the Register of Graduates was formally presented by Shri Ashish Apte for signature. This was followed by the declaration of awards by the respective Deans. The Convocation Address was then delivered by the Chief Guest, Mr. Amish Mehta. In his inspiring address, Mr. Mehta urged students to focus on long-term growth, building depth and direction, and to embrace resilience, adaptability, and lifelong learning as key differentiators in a rapidly changing world. The event was smoothly compered by Prof. Nahid Fatema, Assistant Professor, Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics.
The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Shri Ashish Apte, followed by the formal closure of the convocation by Shri Shalin Divatia. The national anthem and the recession of the academic procession marked the conclusion of Convocation 2025.

Economics Conclave 2026
The Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics organised its annual Economics Conclave 2026 at NMIMS on the theme: "India in a Fractured World: Technology, Trade, Finances & Energy.” The event examined the economic challenges and opportunities facing India in an increasingly uncertain global environment shaped by geopolitical tensions, technological change, climate risks, and energy security concerns. The conclave began with welcome remarks by Professor Amita Vaidya, Director of the Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics, who highlighted the need to rethink economic resilience in a world characterised by volatility and uncertainty. She emphasised that countries today must balance competing priorities such as energy security, affordability, inflation management, and climate commitments.
9th Annual Economics Conference
The 9th Annual Economics Conference was successfully hosted by the Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics, SVKM’s NMIMS Mumbai, on 13th April 2026. The conference served as a vibrant platform for academic researchers, policymakers, industry practitioners, and development professionals to engage in evidence-based discussions on contemporary macroeconomic issues. Centered on the theme "Economic Transitions and Policy Challenges in a Changing World," the event explored how the global economy is being reshaped by technological changes, climate imperatives, demographic shifts, and geopolitical realignments, with a specific focus on the challenges emerging economies like India face in sustaining growth and macroeconomic stability.
