CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES YEAR 2010 - 11

The film Mirch Masala (1985), directed by Ketan Mehta, starring Naseruddin Shah,Smita Patel, Om Puri was screened on 16th July, 2010 with the basic objective of showing the inextricable link between politics, economics and the social set up; and thus to understand the need to study these subjects in conjunction with each other providing the rationale for the B.Sc. Economics program. The screening was followed by a talk by Mr Ketan Mehta followed by an interactive session with students.

Two Award winning documentaries   "I Want My Father Back” and "Nero’s Guests” were shown to the students on 25 & 30th October, 2010 respectively. The basic objectives of the program were to study the issue of corporatization of India’s agriculture and the consequent fallout in the form of farmers’ suicides. The learning objectives of the program were to highlight the problems faced by the farmers in Vidharba and to sensitize students to the plight of farmers in India. The session was followed by a class discussion.

A Faculty Development Program was conducted by ICICI Bank from the 18th to the 21st of October. The basic objective of the program was to get an overview of the Banking System and to relate the theory of Money & Banking to practical aspects. The learning objectives of the program were to understand the working of the Risk Management Department, Corporate Banking and Retail Banking.

September 14, 2010 – The students had a panel discussion on ‘Should India continue the peace process with Pakistan’

The panel discussion was moderated by students and chaired by the faculty.

An MOU was signed with ICICI Bank to provide e-learning modules to the students on 8th March 2011. It was signed by Mr. Saurabh Singh, General Manager (HRMG)  on behalf of the ICICI Bank  and Mrs.Varsha Parab, Director (Administration) and I/C
