Farewell for the T.Y.B. Sc. Economics Students

On April 15, 2013 S.Y.B. Sc. Students organized a farewell for the T.Y.B. Sc. Economics students. The theme for the farewell was ‘Hollywood Awards’. As the Third Year students walked the red carpet, they were given posters in which they featured as the stars

The T.Y. B. Sc students were given awards by the faculty and students. The award function was interspersed with some cultural items presented by the SY BSc students. It was a fun filled programme but also a poignant moment for the TY BSc students as they were bid farewell by the School.

Intercollegiate Football Tournament

The Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics hosted an intercollegiate football tournament on February 03, 2013 at the Jamnabai Narsee School ground. Participation was limited to 16 teams, and the response received was phenomenal, with several teams having to be turned away due to non-availability of slots. In addition to the hosts, teams from colleges such as NM College, Mithibai College, MPSTME, UPG, Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, VJTI, NMIMS School of Commerce, DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering, IHM and Ritumbhara College participated.

MPSTME won the championship trophy.

Hike to Prabalgad

On February 15, 2013 students of Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics went on hike to Prabalgad accompanied by faculty with ‘Break free Journey’, the company which specializes in conducting such treks.

Prabalgad is a Maratha fort located in between Matheran and Panvel. When the British wanted to make a hill station, they had an option of using Matheran orPrabalgad. They went in favour of Matheran as Prabalgad didn’t have a perennial water source.

Right next to it stands Kalavantin Fort which has mammoth steps cut into the rock face to get to the top and the last 30 meters or so is a vertical climb.

The goal was to finish the ascent to Prabalgad within 3 hours.

The students of Third year B. Sc Jhanvi Ghelani, Nandan Rai, Shweta Varma, Omkar Pandharkame conceptualized and published the monthly college rag. They were also on the editorial board. The first edition was inaugurated on September 1 2012.

Movie Club

Various movies were screened by the movie club which were a mix of classics and contemporary cinema.

PARTICIPATION IN INTERCOLLEGIAGE FESTIVALS

Students of SAMSOE have been participating in various inter-collegiate festivals across the city.

February 2013

Students of F.Y. B.Sc. Economics participated in ‘Ecostasy 2013’ the Annual National Economics Festival of Shri Ram College of Commerce at New Delhi from February 8 – 13, 2013.

December 2012

The students of SAM-SOE participated in the inter-collegiate fest Vaayu on November 28 – December 1, 2012 organized by ASM- School of Commerce. They faced stiff competition from 20 other colleges from all across India. More than 55 students of SAMSOE participated in events ranging from Football to Mock Parliament.

Students participated in Ruia Fest Elixir
Students of FY, SY & TY B.Sc. Economics participated in the intercollegiate fest Umang on August 19 & 22, 2012 organized by N.M. College.
Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics was adjudged 10th out of 138 colleges following students won prizes in various events.
1. ISHAAN GOLCHHA was the finalist in the ‘Management Maestro’ event.
2. JIGAR SHAH & DHRUV SENGER – 2nd prize in the ‘Poleconomy’ event.
3. OMKAR PANDHARKAME – 2nd prize in ‘Social Leadership Hunt’.
4. MEET PASARI & JASH SHAH – 2nd prize in ‘War of CL’s’.
5. KAUSTUBH AGRAWAL – 1st prize in ‘Split Second Gaming’ event.
Students started work on the annual intercollegiate Economics fest ‘Kaching’ to be held in December, 2012. They shot a 2 minute teaser promotional for Kaching.

July 2012

Students of B.Sc. Economics participated in the Blood Donation Drive on July 27 & 28, 2012 organized by Mithibai NSS Unit along with Indian Medical Association (Mumbai West branch).
