The Introductory session on ‘Self-Management through Vedanta’ was conducted Mr. Ronan Crowley a member of Vedanta Academy for the F.Y. & T.Y. B.Sc. Economics students on January 5, 2015.
A 9 week training session has commenced for students conducted by the Vedanta Academy on 'Self-Management through Vedanta'.
Essay Competition:
Sardar Patel's Birth Anniversary on 31st October, 2014 was celebrated as 'National Unity Day'. In continuation with the same, Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics has been organized an essay competition on the topic "The contribution of Sardar Patel as 'India's Bismarck'". This is in light of the growing number of statehood movements in the country.
Shastrarth – 2014
Shastrarth, the annual inter collegiate debate competition of NMIMS's Sarla Anil Modi school of Economics was held on 10th September 2014 in Juhu Jagruti Hall and Mithibai Seminar Hall, NMIMS campus. 67 teams participated from all over India. 8 teams qualified for the semifinal out of which two qualified for the finals.
An esteemed panel of judges comprising of Mr. Somyadipta Banerjee, Times of India, Mr. Nilesh Vikamsey, Khimji Kunverji & Co. and Mr. Bandi Ramprasad, Ex. Chief Economist at the Bombay Stock Exchange judged the semifinal and the final round of the debate.
The event was won by Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics while Pravin Gandhi College of Law was the runner up. Best Speaker award was given to a speaker in the Pravin Gandhi College of Law team.
‘Trainee Dealer Programme (TDP)’ by ‘Six Capital’: 8-12 weeks programme which consisted of training sessions of 12 hours and subsequent trading sessions. The training session to students of SY and TY BSc was given from 8-12 September, 2014 by ‘Six Capital’ a company based in Singapore and Shanghai, a foreign exchange (FX) trading company.

Inaugural Session
Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics welcomed the new batch of students of 2014 – 15 on 11th July with the orientation program held for both the students and their parents in Santokba Hall.
Mr. Shalin Divatia, Hon. Joint Secretary SVKM and the Mentor of the school addressed the gathering and reiterated the importance of Economics and the need for the students to follow their passion.
The Associate Dean Prof. Amita Vaidya oriented the students and their parents to the academic and administrative systems of the school.
The second and third year B.Sc. students also shared their experiences at the school with F.Y. B.Sc students.
It was followed by an interactive session of the parents and the students with the faculty.
Orientation for students
The afternoon session consisted of an orientation of the students with the examination system by Ms. Shilpa Patil, with the counselor Ms. Meeta Shah and the library orientation by Ms. Madhavi Tipnis.
Ice Breaker Session
The S.Y. and T.Y. B.Sc. students conducted an Ice breaker session of fun and games wherein the juniors freely interacted with senior students and come to know each other better.

Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics uses the LMS system of Blackboard extensively. It serves as a very effective medium of collaborative interaction of faculty and students. The Blackboard training session was conducted by Ms. Vaidehi.
Library database orientation
NMIMS’s Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics has a wealth of electronic databases to ensure effective utilization of this rich academic resource. The students were given an orientation for the same by Ms. Madhavi Tipnis.
Examination system and CGPA calculation
The students were given a detailed orientation of the examination system of the school by Ms. Shilpa Patil.

Orientation for S.Y. B.Sc. and T.Y.B Sc. Students
Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics changed from the trimester to semester system in 2014 – 15. The second and third year students were given an orientation of the semester system by Prof. Amita Vaidya, Associate Dean.
It was followed by a session with the placement executive Ms. Lekha Toraskar and an orientation of library database by Ms. Madhavi Tipnis.
