Social Service Club - Awareness Drive
It is a well -established fact that adolescents need to be given timely lessons on human sexuality, as it lays the foundations for them to better understand the physical and psychological changes they go through, and also learn to cope with problems commonly associated with teenage. However, as the curriculum in schools is not adequately designed to meet these needs, today's adolescents remain uninformed in this domain.
In light of this fact, the community service club of the Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics (SAMSOE), NMIMS, had undertaken a sex education drive for Students of class VII and VIII in Manilal Sunderji Mun. U.P. Tamil School by Miss Chhaya from a NGO called Vacha. The session was divided into two parts first the group of 70 girls were guided upon the physical and mental changes that take place in a girl’s body as she enters puberty and later the mentor spoke about the types of touch and created awareness regarding the social injustice towards women in society.
The second part to the session was a question answer round where the girls could ask any question without any fear on any topic that affects them. Many girls came up and asked questions and helped it make an interactive session. The girls got to learn various things that they were reluctant to even talk about at the start of the session.
